# Strategic Carbon Selected for Agricultural Recovery Project in Pecos County Texas

Strategic Carbon joins the Imperial Oasis Project to initiate a scalable water and land reclamation program in Northwest Pecos County, Texas.

Strategic Carbon LLC (SC), a privately held technology consulting firm based in Corpus Christi, Texas, was selected to join the Imperial Oasis Project and work with the Sandhills Area Research Association, Texas Tech University, and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to initiate a scalable water and land reclamation program in Northwest Pecos County, Texas. The pilot project will demonstrate the economic, ecological, and agricultural potential of a fully integrated brackish water desalination and land rehabilitation program that leverages the region's unique artesian flow assets.

Agricultural sustainability is a core TDA mission, with specific focus on returning usable water to an abandoned agricultural area, helping the Texas Railroad Commission reduce orphaned wells, and managing subsurface pressure issues by controlling artesian flow. The Imperial Oasis Project is a valuable multi-agency solution, with clear objectives to: 1) Demonstrate a functional water cycle and soil reclamation loop in a historically productive region; 2) Prove the commercial viability of BWRO (brackish water reverse osmosis) systems in reviving abandoned agricultural lands; 3) Rehabilitate land along the Pecos River and throughout the Pecos Palisades through high-value crop production with premium RO-treated water, and 4) Provide an ecological uplift and mitigate water-related subsurface pressures that challenge the oil and gas industry.

Strategic Carbon was selected to apply its unique environmental science skills and industry knowledge to help the Imperial Oasis Project achieve these goals.
